Imagine a child living his or her youth in and out of foster homes, and homeless at one point. Imagine a teenager practically raising himself or herself, living in poverty while trying to make the most of what little he or she has. A New York native, born in Brooklyn, and raised in the Bronx, our Founder and CEO was that child. Determined to be more than the environment which surrounded him, Shon found a positive outlet in Caribbean culture, Calypso, and Soca music. Upon learning his family derived from Jamaica, Haiti and Saint Kitts, his immediate love for and attraction to Calypso and Soca all made sense. The culture accepted Shon with open arms, and he accepted the culture in return, and now it is his time to give back to the community and culture that gave so much to him.
Caribbean culture has a fascinating history, and is rich with diversity. A popular part of Caribbean heritage is its Carnivals and Fetes (celebrations). An inclusive culture, many people, on a global scale traditionally participate in Caribbean celebrations because of its intoxicating vibes, kind people, and the love expressed in such Fetes.
While the Caribbean is known for being a premier tourist destination, its location often puts it in danger of natural disasters. Feters United was established to help the Caribbean get back on its feet and move forward after experiencing devastations such as volcanic eruptions, massive earthquakes, droughts, and tsunami’s. This aid will be in the form of rebuilding schools, hospitals, homes. Providing families with necessities essential for self-fulfillment. Ensuring children have what they need and want so that they may enjoy their youth despite the hardships. As he loves the culture and all it has to offer, Shon’s ultimate focus is to take care of the people who keep the culture alive. #FeteWithAPurpose

Volunteering with Feters United was such a great experience! I signed up to feed the homeless once a month. The sight of joy on their faces when they see us in the community and making ourselves available to help them is priceless. A great feeling on both sides.
